If you want things to change in your life, you have to change things in your life. This includes how you think. When you change the way you think, your actions follow suit.
Many people struggle with debt or not making enough money. They are frustrated and cannot seem to find a way out. This is when it’s time for a paradigm shift! It is not what we don’t know that is keeping us stuck; it’s what we know that isn’t so that’s keeping us stuck. If our financial results are not what we want, maybe the behavior that created those results should change too.
Every dollar presents an opportunity. Will you continue to do what you have always done with dollars coming in and out of your life or do the opposite? Will you spend it on things you don’t really need? Will you disregard seemingly small amounts of money? Will you save your money? Will you be grateful for the money you do have and treat it with respect?
I have told clients trying to get out of debt to start saving money. They usually look at me like I am crazy and get uncomfortable at the thought. They can’t fathom the thought because they believe they must throw every single extra dollar to pay down their debt. I’m not saying they shouldn’t pay off their debt, what I am encouraging them to do is change their perspective. Because they feel uncomfortable is the reason they need to do it! It is counter-intuitive; however, it’s how they can start to create a shift in their thoughts, then their actions, then their reality. They create a new belief through peace of mind of having any money saved, and then learn to create momentum as they save more.
It is easy for many to lose faith early on and fail at this exercise; however, those that stick with it will begin to lift their negative energy on the debt while continuing to pay it down. As a result, opportunities to make more money appear, which allows more money to be saved and debt to be paid down faster. Try it! It may take months to see changes, however, is the possibility of a shift better than being trapped by debt?
